No Golf Course for Amalija: Melania and Family to Bury Her Mother in Her Slovenian Homeland

As has been repeatedly reported by now, the funeral for Melania Trump’s mother was held on Thursday in Palm Beach. Melania honored her late mother, Amalija Knavs, with an emotional eulogy at her funeral.

“My mother, the epitome of elegance and grace, exemplified the essence of a true woman,” the former first lady said at The Church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea.

“Her love for her husband, Viktor, my father; Ines, my sister; and me was boundless. Her nurturing spirit had no limits, creating a legacy that will last for generations.”

One thing that was odd about the funeral is that there were no sightings of Melania’s sister Ines. Most likely, Ines is very private and doesn’t want to be fodder for the media. Melania’s sister is also very beautiful, and worked as a model at the same time as Melania.

Melania remembered Knavs as a tender grandmother, who showered her and Donald Trump’s son, Barron, “with affection, illuminating his world with love, tender care, and unwavering devotion.”

Donald Trump had previous said that Amalija’s amazing cooking was the reason that Barron ended up being an enormous 6’7″ tall.

Melania also highlighted her mother, who was born in Judendorf-Strassengel, Austria but moved to Slovenia as a young child, for embracing her “privilege” of becoming a U.S. citizen alongside her father, Viktor Knavs, in 2018 when Donald was president. Of course the Knavs’ and Melania’s sister obtained citizenship by way of chain migration, something Donald Trump is fiercely against.

“She vowed to contribute to make a difference in the world filled with uncertainty,” she continued, adding that Amalija was her and Donald’s biggest supporter when he was in office from 2017 to 2021.

“She had an exquisite sense of pride as my husband became the President of the United States and as I embarked on a grand odyssey, traveling the corners of the globe as the first lady.”

The former first lady took the pulpit at The Church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea in Palm Beach, Fla., to remember her family matriarch as a fashion designer and “beloved” mom.

Melania stayed composed while concluding her tribute, adding that her mom was “an irreplaceable treasure.” And then she said something that really hit me in the gut. “And for that, I am entirely grateful. Rest in peace, my beloved mommy,” she finished. My beloved mommy. At times like this we do need to put politics aside and remember that this was Melania’s mother, and they had a fiercely close relationship. Melania’s parents also helped raised Barron and the loss of her mother must be destroying her right now.

After the funeral had concluded, Melania and her husband went their separate ways. Video of them departing shows that Melania was either very unhappy with her husband, or just very unhappy.

Once the funeral is over, obviously there is an internment of some sort. Melania is Catholic, and I am guessing her family is as well. Therefore a burial is most likely. According to the Palm Beach Daily News, the paper of record for Palm Beach, and the paper that has the most reliable sources when it comes to the Trumps and Mar-a-Lago, “Knavs will be laid to rest in her home country, Slovenia.”

Which makes sense. It’s been reported that Viktor and Amalija Knavs still own the home they built in Sevnica, near Slovenia’s border with Croatia. And the town is gorgeous, so I can see why Amalija would want to be laid to rest in the place she spent most of her life.

The home the Knavs’ built and moved in to when Melania was 14. They still own the home today.

One does have to wonder if Amalija is buried in Slovenia, will Melania one day want to be buried there as well? I know Donald Trump has wanted to build a family mausoleum at his Bedminster property, but thus far it hasn’t been approved. It would seem that Melania would want to be close to her mother, but also her son. Let’s hope it’s not something she has to think about for a while.

There has been no reports of Melania and family flying to Slovenia yet, but being Melania, I am guessing it will be incredibly private and we probably won’t know the details for months, or until she decides she wants to reveal them.
