Outside of the political world, there may be no more hated man in the United States right now than Alex Murdaugh. So, of course, Trump would want to tie Alex to Trump’s most hated Democrats. Trump posted a copy of a Breitbart article that the Murdaugh donated money to Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

Given that neither Clinton nor Biden is clairvoyant nor key figures in South Carolina politics, there is no conceivable way that they could know they are accepting money from a future thief, drug addict, and eventual murderer. But there are other problems that are clearly spelled out in the Breitbart article that Trump and Breitbart’s title conveniently leave out:

And next from Breitbart itself:

Murdaugh and his family have primarily donated to Democrat politicians, including two $2,700 donations to Biden and Clinton, the maximum individual contribution allowed by Federal Election Committee guidelines at the time.

However, Charleston-based Republican consultant Michael Mule told Fox News that Murdaugh “knew how to play the political game,” highlighting his contributions to Democrat and Republican politicians in South Carolina.

“Murdaugh gave money to Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Joe Cunningham, among other Democrats,” Mule said. “But he also donated to Republicans across our red state. The guy knew how to play the political game here. In politics far too often, money means power.”

It is not unusual for trial lawyers (the ones that make money off insurance companies and corporations) to vote for Democrats because Democrats are not the type to side with big insurance companies and businesses by putting caps on damages. It is also not unusual for attorneys in red areas to be extremely generous to local Republican politicians, knowing that the locals will be the ones to make do a favor once in a while, not letting him get away with murder but maybe look away from a big pill problem, or even just accept a brief filed at 6:00 p.m. when due at 5:00 and fix the “time” on the stamp.

So as per usual, Murdaugh was simply donating in his own interest, which should surprise no one. But Breitbart leaves that part out of the title, and Trump throws it up on Truth Social. Awful.
