Jake Tapper Showcases All the Times Trump Was Anti-Semitic and This is a DOOZY

CNN host Jake Tapper called out his “rogue” control room on Wednesday after the team rolled footage highlighting Donald Trump’s “hypocrisy” after he accused freshman Rep. IIhan Omar of anti-Semitism.

During a segment on his show, Tapper highlighted how the Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota has apologized for pushing the stereotype that Jews control politicians with money. Tapper also pointed out that Trump and his allies, who have called Omar anti-Semitic and her apology inadequate, have pushed anti-Semitic stereotypes themselves.

In a tongue-in-cheek display, Tapper repeatedly told his production team to show tweets and clips of Omar, but instead they showed tweets and footage of Trump and other Republicans making remarks almost identical to Omar’s.

Tapper first played a 2015 clip of Trump telling a Jewish group that they want to “control” politicians.

“I’m sorry that was the wrong clip, that was then-candidate Trump in front of Republican Jewish Coalition suggesting that haggling Jews like to control their politicians with their money,” Tapper quipped. “We wanted the clip of Congresswoman Omar. Control room, I want the Omar clip.”

The control room aired a very anti-Semitic, deleted retweet from Trump featuring a Star of David and a pile of cash.

“Wait no, that’s not it either,” Tapper said. “Control room, I’m not looking for stuff about Trump, I’m looking for the Congresswoman Omar clip. Do you have it? Okay, I’m being told we have it. Thank you. Run it please.”

The control room aired the infamous 2017 video of Trump saying there were “very fine people” at the neo-Nazi march in Charlottesville.

Tapper concluded with a deleted tweet from House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, in which he accused George Soros and other wealthy Jews of trying to “BUY” the 2018 election.

“We seem to have some issues here sorting out which anti-Semitic tropes are offensive and which are not,” Tapper joked to complete the segment.

Omar drew bipartisan criticism earlier this week for a tweet accusing a pro-Israel lobbying group of paying lawmakers in exchange for influence. Critics said it invoked an anti-Semitic trope. She later apologized after being chastised by the House Democratic leadership.

Trump called her apology inadequate and said the congresswoman should resign.
