Trump Taunts Federal Workers Over Shutdown, ‘Most People Not Getting Paid’ Are Democrats

Donald Trump has taunted the people whose paychecks have been stopped by the federal government shutdown, saying most of them are Democrats.

“Have the Democrats finally realized that we desperately need Border Security and a Wall on the Southern Border,” Trump wrote. “Need to stop Drugs, Human Trafficking,Gang Members & Criminals from coming into our Country.”

“Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?” he asked.

Trump made the decision to shut down the government last week after Senate Democrats refused to back a spending bill that included funding for his treasured wall at the Mexico border. He’s vowed to have the shutdown continue “for a very long time” in an attempt to win funding for his pet project.

Wednesday marked the first full business day of the partial government shutdown, which started on midnight Friday, before the holidays. Some 800,000 workers are affected by the shutdown.

Government shutdowns affect agencies and employees that are funded through annual appropriations; salaries for members of the House and the Senate are mandated by law.
