MAGA Rioter Who Joined the Army After Jan 6 Riot Gets Arrested and Charged

Well, at least in his mind, he was fighting for his country all along. But James Mault of Brockport, New York, may not have had the soundest of minds when it came to decisions as to how to fight for his country. In January he fought to overthrow the government and prevent Joe Biden from being Commander in Chief. In June, Mault attempted to put himself under Biden’s authority by joining the army. He was found and arrested and is now being held.

According to CBS 17, prosecutors have alleged that Mault cannot be allowed out awaiting trial because:

By clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions of release will reasonably assure the safety of any other person and the community.

By a preponderance of evidence that no condition or combination of conditions of release will reasonably assure the defendant’s appearance as required.

Clearly, this is no regular rioter. This is a bad guy. Somewhat fittingly, his mother played a significant role in his arrest:

His mother said: told the FBI that her husband drove a bus of approximately five people, including James Mault, to attend the protest in Washington on Jan. 6. She confirmed to special agents that the man in the reddish brown hard hat was indeed her son.

James Mault was then interviewed by FBI special agents on the same day they spoke with his mother.

He told the FBI he attended the rally and that he wore the hard hat because “he was aware of ANTIFA att@cking Trump supporters” and thought the hard hat would provide some level of protection.

James Mault told officials that he was caught up in the crowd which pushed him closer to the Capitol and said he had “no choice but to move forward” because of the press of people behind him, adding that he ended up right next to the Capitol, but denied that entering the building.

James Mault denied assaulting anyone or damaging property, according to the federal complaint.

A hard hat because he worried about “ANTIFA”? Yeah, your typical federal judge is an idiot and will take his word on that, yes, sir. In terms of having no choice but to be pushed forward by the crowd, there could be some truth in that, but the video will tell the tale and all we can say is this. Prosecutors have not sought to keep many rioters in jail awaiting trial. The video they have must show something very different than what he is saying.

Shocking. But quite clever, “hide in the military that swears an oath to the constitution that four months earlier he tried to overthrow!”
