Don Jr. is Now His Daddy’s Top Political Adviser After Pathetic 2020 Loss to Joe Biden

Jared Kushner is taking a break from politics now that his father-in-law Donald Trump is no longer President and it appears Donald Trump Jr. has stepped into the gap left behind, CNN reports. Trump’s eldest son is taking on an unofficial role as an adviser as dear old dad weighs his options if he decides to run for president in 2024.

The younger Trump has stepped up behind the scenes, say multiple sources close to the former president. While Kushner spent the last four years trying to keep control of the reins from inside the West Wing, Trump Jr. is now working beside Trump’s team to shore up his chances and ensuring his father endorses reliably conservative candidates.

But Donald Trump Jr.’s role has extended deeper than that in the three months since his father left office. Unlike his sister Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, he never worked inside the White House. Now, however, he’s reshaping his father’s political instincts. And aides have noted their relationship is considerably friendlier than Trump’s ever was with Kushner.

The younger Trump’s past relationship with his notoriously volatile father hasn’t been a good one. Last year during an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo Trump said he didn’t want to see Don Jr. run for Mayor in New York City because he “wouldn’t have a chance,” and added he would rather see a “young version of Rudy Giuliani.”

Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day, the former girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr. also made some startling revelations on Twitter, including that the younger Trump hates his father. Then there’s the fact that the senior Trump didn’t want to share his name with his son in case he turned out to be a loser.

It’s safe to conclude there’s plenty of angst here.

But Don Jr. seems to understand how to suss out potential GOP candidates vying for his father’s support to figure out if his father should endorse them.

“He recognizes candidates who are authentically invested in the America First agenda and can spot those who are faking it,” said former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. “While it’s true that all roads lead to Mar-a-Lago, smart candidates know there’s a pit stop with Don that ensures a higher degree of success.”

It’s anyone’s guess how the 2024 presidential campaign will play out, or if Trump will run again, but no matter how much help he gets from any member of his family, I think his chances of winning are poor. At least I hope so. Here’s to hoping people have long memories.
