Total of 150 Students from Patrick Henry College Signed Letter Calling Madison Cawthorn a Predator: NC GOP Ignored It

As we have previously reported, Madison Cawthorn is one of the “Big Three” and not any sort of good “Big Three.” Cawthorn was lumped in with Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor-Greene as the most MAGA’d members of the GOP freshman class to the House of Representatives. But, it turns out, despite the fact that Boebert and MTG all have serious issues, Cawthorn is in a class by himself and the North Carolina GOP has some very serious questions to answer.

How big a danger to women must a man be to have 150 students from his college sign a letter calling him a sexual predator? He must be a monster, and yet that is exactly what happened and yet Cawthorne still currently serves as a representative in Congress, voting on America’s most pressing issues:

As characterized by Rawstory from a Washington Post report:

More than 150 students and graduates from Patrick Henry College signed a letter during Cawthorn’s campaign calling the 25-year-old a “predator,” but the state GOP hasn’t taken any steps to censure the staunchly pro-Trump freshman lawmaker, reported the Washington Post.

His fellow classmates wrote and signed the letter DURING the campaign! They did not wait until he won, at which point someone might say “There is some political agenda here.” No, they wrote before he won, they wrote as a warning. It got ignored and we all know why.

“I think hell freezes over before they say something,” said Bob Orr, a former North Carolina Supreme Court justice who lives in Cawthorn’s district. “He’s a Trump ally. He’s a darling of CPAC, and so they are in no way, shape or form going to be saying or doing things that are potentially detrimental to Cawthorn or anybody else that supports Trump.”

He is a made man, Trump-MAGA through and through. Liz Cheney is horrifically conservative and yet is principled enough to know that Trump went way too far. The MAGAs are trying to kick Cheney out of the party. But the GOP wouldn’t even do anything when they had a chance to replace Cawthorn!

And yes, this is all too typical. The first rule in being a MAGA is to never, ever, apologize:

“It is what you would expect from a Trumpified party,” said Peter Wehner, who served in the Reagan administration and both Bush administrations. “One of the regrettable lessons Republicans have learned from the Trump years is there’s no need to apologize. The shame or embarrassment can get in the way of your political ascendancy. They don’t feel the need to explain themselves because might makes right.”

We are not close enough to the Andrew Cuomo story to know whether he should resign or be strongly sanctioned by the state and the Democratic party. We know that the state needs a strong, independent investigation. We listen to women! Cuomo might well need to resign and we will support those findings.

This man, Cawthorn, had a letter signed by 150 students that went to college with him, calling him a “predator.” We cannot imagine what a person has to do to earn that kind of hatred and reputation. And yet no one in North Carolina is calling for an investigation or that he resign. This is outrageous.

As bad as Boebert and MTG are – and they are bad – Cawthorn stands in a class by himself. We treat women with respect as colleagues, not bodies for one’s pleasure. Disgusting.
