Sen. Dick Durbin Just OWNED and Humiliated Ted Cruz on the Senate Floor While Passing the COVID Relief Bill

We finally got a COVID stimulus bill passed. It got through the Senate Saturday around noon, 50-49. Every Republican voted against the stimulus bill except the one Republican who didn’t vote at all. Again, COVID Stimulus bill did not get a single Republican vote. The reason? The Republicans know it will work and just like under President Obama, the Republicans are not lifting a finger to help this country while a Democrat is president. Period.

It is not a perfect bill. It does not include the $15 minimum wage hike, but it will grant millions of families relief in a way that used to only happen for the wealthy in this country. Not for nothing, but in 2022, every Republican up for reelection is going to have to go back to their districts and states, to explain why they voted against the most popular bill to come along in a very long time.

The Republicans in the Senate attempted to justify voting against the bill.

Ted Cruz got up and said it was not fair to give $1400 stimulus checks or unemployment benefits to illegal immigrants. It was an argument made for a commercial or a television clip on FOX News. You will also be shocked to learn that it was an outright lie. The bill does not extend benefits to any illegal immigrant. Ted just knows that regular ole’ Texans definitely want their $1400 and unemployment insurance but they will say “no” to it, if it means that “illegals” won’t be getting it, either.

Dick Durbin made Ted Cruz look like an ass when Durbin stood up and did something that rarely happens in the rarified, stiff, air of the U.S. Senate. He looked Cruz directly in the eye and said Ted was making everything up, it was untrue, (lying, basically). Then Durbin made it art, and read the bill right into Cruz’s face. We suspect that Cruz will leave that part of the clip out when he makes the commercial.

Breathe this in:

Now that is why we worked so hard to get a bare majority in the Senate. So that the Democrats control the terms of the debate and can vote in highly needed stimulus money.

Well done.
