Scott Baio Humiliates Himself (Again) After Trying to One-Up Comedian Patton Oswalt on Twitter
Reporting on Friday evenings without Friday news dumps can be, well, a dump. But we do have a sublime Twitter comedy-fight to cover and that is always welcome.
As everyone knows, Scott Baio is the unrepentant Trumper-MAGA head. That’s one tough gig when you don’t have any other gigs, especially when the number of celebrity Trumpers is low enough that …that Scott Baio counts as one? It was put a little bit more succinctly here:
Dean Cain is the James Woods of Scott Baios.

Near as we can tell, one has the list of “celebrity” Trumpers above in one tweet, well – Kirstie Alley, but is she even a celebrity? Anyway, even if we had included Kristie, there would be plenty of characters to spare (but not a single other celebrity). We admit, it is tough enough to work in Hollywood – especially if you’re Scott Baio – that one doesn’t need to add “racist” and “xenophobe” to the back of their head shot.

Patton Oswalt, on the other hand, is just one funny guy and has had a pretty good life being one funny guy. Oswalt, as he often does, was having fun yesterday, what with it being “March 4th, Real Trump Inauguration Day.” According to the true MAGA heads, March 4th was to be the day when the clouds would part, trumpets would blare, doves pour forth, the 81st Airborne would surround the White House while Trump drove up Pennsylvania Avenue standing in a convertible Jeep, chewing on a cigar. Or something.
Oswalt put out this hilarious tweet:
Guys, I’m at the DuPont Circle Pinkberry for the #TrumpInauguration. I’m here with four Proud Boys, their moms and Scott Baio. Did we get the address wrong? Help me out, this Minuteman costume is super-itchy.
— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) March 4, 2021
Now that’s funny, which is why Patton is paid to be funny. Scott Baio isn’t paid to be anything, not even to be Scott Baio, and that is a problem, apparently, because Chachi isn’t in a good mood. He did not take kindly to the tweet:
We will save some space here and include Patton’s response:
Oh YIKES. I didn’t even “@“ this guy. Poor sap searches his name on Twitter. No one dunk on him, this is really depressing. BUGSY MALONE’s still a great movie, right? pic.twitter.com/sFrvxb0XA3
— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) March 5, 2021
STD itch? Didn’t that joke go out in high school? Or is it more relevant to Baio now? That is one lame comeback and – as we’ve always said on this site – when one gets owned, and it is funny, the only dignified way out of it is to laugh at yourself harder than anyone.
Scott, try this:
“Ha! Well, I wish he was being inaugurated. Maybe in 2024, you can come with me to Trump’s next inauguration. Nice job, though, funny.”
See, Scott? See the benefit of being cool about it? First, you don’t look like an even bigger dick. Second, it makes it far less fun for a guy like Patton. Instead, you just tripled the good time he was having anyway.
This really isn’t hard but it might explain why it seems to have been some time since Scott has worked.
The net had quite a good time with it:
Okay, guys, I found out what happened. They had to cancel Trump’s inauguration yesterday after learning that Scott Baio couldn’t get out of his shift at Subway

That Scott Baio, man… how stupid do you have to be to pick a Twitter fight with Patton Oswalt? Dude's been making hecklers cry for 30 years and Chachi thinks he has the skills to be in this game? Good Lord.

Scott Baio brought a knife to a joke fight with Patton Oswalt over here in the corner swinging his lightsaber. #TeamOswalt

I'm not so much into TV and movies, so for whatever weird reason, I used to get Ralph Macchio and Scott Baio confused. Now it's easy to distinguish them. Ralph's the one who still gets work.
