As we reported earlier today, the Senate passed the COVID Stimulus relief package 50-49. The bill did not get a single Republican vote. The Republicans know this legislation is going to work and help the American people and Republicans are not going to move a finger to help the country while under a Democrat as president. They did the same thing under Obama, “No deals while Obama is president,” said McConnell. There is no other explanation here, the Republicans voted for the CARES act when Trump was president.

Nonetheless, President Joe Biden got it done. It is not perfect, it doesn’t have the $15 minimum wage and the unemployment insurance isn’t as high as President Biden wanted, but it is a very good bill and very needed. It is a landmark and it comes right at the time when we think we can see the end of the COVID crisis on the horizon.

Joe Biden damn well should feel good about this because this law is really why we all wanted him to be president in the first place, to help the American people and not himself. Joe made the distinction, helping people versus helping oneself, in a not at all subtle dig at Donald Trump. From Mediaite:

Biden hailed the measure as ‘significant” and “historic,” noting that experts estimate it will cut child poverty in half.

“There’s much more to this bill, but for now, let me make one final point. When I was elected, I said we were going to get the government out of the business of battling on Twitter and back in the business of delivering for the American people, of making a difference in their lives, giving everyone a chance, a fighting chance of showing the American people that their government can work for them.”

“I really want to thank the American people for making all this possible,” he added. “Without the overwhelming bipartisan support of the American people, this would not have happened. Your elected officials heard you.”

Dignified. Joe Biden worked his ass off, using all the experience and skill he has garnered over forty years in government, and got a piece of landmark legislation passed, lifting kids out of poverty, and helped the people that need help the most. What does Joe do? Give himself an “A Plus”? Talk about being the greatest president since Lincoln? No, he thanks the American people.

Yes, he’s earned the right to take that shot at Trump. Come to think of it, Trump did plenty to earn it.
