Mitch McConnell’s Sanctimonious Threat Gets Over One Thousand Responses in Eight Minutes
Mitch McConnell is the man who blocked Merrick Garland from a seat on the United States Supreme Court from March until well after November because he wanted “his guy” in that chair. Mitch McConnell is the person who fast-tracked Justice Amy Coney-Barret in just one month. Mitch McConnell is also the guy that refused to bring to the floor nearly every piece of legislation passed by the House of Representatives under the Democrats. Mitch McConnell is the man who totally reversed the rules regarding the number of votes required for the number of judges and justices needed for an appointment, which led the way for almost 300 Trump-appointed judges to pollute the federal bench for god only knows how long.
And yet today, Mitch McConnell is lecturing the country and the Democrats about the threat to do away with the filibuster and the 60 vote requirement to pass legislation, two of the most anachronistic and anti-democratic rules in the U.S. Senate and two that McConnell would and will break in a second, the moment he has the majority again.
We do not understand how Schumer allowed this to happen, but we are going to investigate it thoroughly. We strongly believe that the Democrats need to consider new leadership. This is not what we fought for.
Regardless, here is Mitch, getting more responses in eight minutes than anyone we’ve ever seen who wasn’t named Trump or Beyonce, most of them not nice:
Today, I made clear that if Democrats ever attack the key Senate rules, it would drain the consent and comity out of the institution. A scorched-earth Senate would hardly be able to function. It wouldn’t be a progressive’s dream. It would be a nightmare.
I guarantee it.

Mitch, the nightmare is that you’ve lost the majority. The nightmare is that you don’t control the country from your perch. The nightmare is that something might be voted on and passed. A “scorched earth” Senate is the only thing that can function and because it would function it would be a nightmare to the people who lost it.
When you say you guarantee it, is that because you have pre-scorched the earth? https://t.co/B5MWkdqRHM

Not a lot of comity in threats like this anyway, so let's do it. https://t.co/reQptrCxUd

You mean like when you crammed through a Supreme Court Justice nominee days before an election? https://t.co/wLqcVmwxQB

Your entire purpose has been to make the Senate NOT WORK for your entire career. Burn it down with you on the pyre and we will rebuild. Shut. Up. Traitor. #moscowmitch https://t.co/4ALMBpbQOo

"I will burn it all down if I don't get my way," says McConnell, echoing precisely the thought process of those who assaulted the Capitol almost three weeks ago. https://t.co/PSQXOy4dVT

By the way the idea of comity in the Senate is comedy https://t.co/B5MWkdqRHM

We are just following your lead. You just controlled everything for years. Sucks to truly have no say doesn’t it. Suck it up and reach across the table or the table will crush you https://t.co/SDKzQ3Ygfc

That’s really the point. Mitch would do it. Mitch will do it. So why not do it before he’s ever handed the Senate again?
