Top General Called Trump ‘an Idiot’ and Said Melania Was ‘Inquisitive & Smarter’ Than Him
Gen. John E. Hyten, one of the country’s highest-ranking generals dismissed Donald Trump as an “idiot” with no “basic understanding of national security” during dinner back in 2017. The general’s words became public when notes from that night were published by the Washington Post.
Retired Col. Kathy Spletstoser shared the notes she took during the October 2017 dinner with The Post.
Spletstoser’s notes clearly detailed the general’s thoughts on not only Donald Trump but Melania Trump as well.
“The president is an idiot,” Hyten told Spletstoser and the others that were seated at his table.
“He is just a businessman without the basic understanding of national security,” the general stated. “Everything is a business transaction for him and making money is winning to him and the only thing that matters.”

An official from the White House responded to Hyten’s statement by saying, “We are unfamiliar with any conversation like this. Discussions like this would not be had casually around a dinner table.”
Reportedly, Hyten also stated during the dinner that he believed Melania Trump had a better understanding of military operations than her husband did.
“The president wanted to sell nuclear-powered submarines to the South Koreans, and I had to talk him out of it, explaining why this was a bad idea. Everything is about a business deal — that is how the president views things, through that lens,” Spletsoser’s notes recorded the general saying.
“I also spent a lot of time talking to Melania Trump about the locations of all our intercontinental ballistic missile fields,” the general added. “She was more inquisitive and smarter than the president.”
People are upset and rightfully so:
This sentence should not exist and nothing in it should have happened:
"I also spent a lot of time talking to Melania Trump about the locations of all our intercontinental ballistic missile fields.”

Excuse me, but why does Melania Trump need to know where our missiles are, and to whom is she passing along this information? https://t.co/FfJimKn0ju

Perhaps Melania can get away with asking about the location of US missiles, but why does she want to know that & isn't that info on a 'need to know' basis? So I ask, where are her parents, why are they here in this country, and are they the recipients of that info. https://t.co/Qo6T4E1UY6

Why was a U.S. General discussing the locations of our intercontinental ballistic missiles with Soviet born Melania Trump? Indeed, she was very inquisitive. What is her level of security clearance, if any? Shades of Red Sparrow. https://t.co/Qhn5Z9IyIu

Why is @FLOTUS asking about the location of US missiles, which are TOP SECRET? AND WHY did Joint Chief's Gen John Hyten TELL HER? Does Melania HAVE A TOP SECRET CLEARANCE? AND WAS SHE elected as @POTUS? NO!!! WHO is MELANIA GIVING THAT info too? @SpeakerPelosi @RepAdamSchiff
