Trump Press Conference Was as Nutty as Usual: Trump Pressed on His Tweet Slamming Dr. Birx

First, Trump pronounced that the name of the Tropical storm is “interesting”  which was weird enough. He announced that the nation was ready to handle the tropical storm, though there would be a “lot of water” coming. Odd.

Trump then got busy lying about or wrongly castigating the numbers of COVID cases across the country:

Trump has lost all credibility when he speaks about the overall picture in the United States:

Trump said that the international community that has done a fantastic job in keeping their numbers down are now finding out that the disease doesn’t go away, almost as if he was telling other nations “I told you so,” except the numbers are in a different universe compared to ours.

He announced that “tele-health” is the “highest ever recorded” and working “like no one’s ever seen,” as we know, because it has never been needed like it is now, with an epidemic running wild. It is a needed new development and has nothing to do with him other than a giant epidemic roaring through the country.

Trump continually said that the ads running against him are coming from the pharmaceutical industry. They are mad about Trump lowering drug prices, a development that we haven’t noticed. But the pharmaceutical industry is totally against Trump.

We haven’t noticed a single ad.

Exactly. This seems out of nowhere. Trump says this is a “decline like no one can believe.” He said that some senators pleaded with him, “Don’t do this,” but the numbers will be something “no one will believe.” It is always salesmanship.

He went on about telehealth for at least twenty minutes. Patting himself on the back, going back and forth between telehealth and lower drug prices (which we haven’t noticed, again).

Right.

Trump tried very hard to say “Rural” and it didn’t sound right – at all. Very forced, “RURRRal” America.

No one has ever said less with more words.

Somehow Trump is talking about hundreds of millions of dosages of vaccines, and no vaccine is available yet, nor has one even gone through stage three trials. Trump says they are balancing “speed and safety” and we do have doubts on the speed and safety part.

Trump says that the New York investigation is nothing but a witch hunt – all investigations are just a “witch hunt,” and since nothing has happened to him so far, it’s all just witch hunts.

Trump hates being confronted with questions about his own tweets. He immediately ducks the question about his statement on Dr. Birx, and starts talking about the rest of the world.

Then Trump said that he doesn’t read about the rest of the world even though he’s tweeted about international “hot spots” with the virus twice in the last 24 hours.

Trump was then asked about sending federal troops into Chicago, there are no protests or any acute problem happening in Chicago. Trump is talking about stopping drugs, gangs, and illegal immigrants, chronic problems that he wants to stop with federal “troops” – and mentioned ICE. Dangerous.

Then OAN asked a question, about “mail in ballots” and is Trump thinking about issuing a national order – something he can’t do.

Sadly, Trump then hacked down at democracy, claiming that there are “several and small” elections that are “easy to control” that no one knows who won. He struck right at the heart of democracy, casting doubt on elections generally. He talked about elections as a game, one you see the results on TV – “down to the wire” and then saying that people are “using COVID” to get mail-in ballots. He attempted to distinguish between absentee ballots and mail-in ballots. The process is identical.

We have already lost faith in the presidential election.

Trump then said that he would be introducing his “healthcare plan” sometime during “this month,” this is the healthcare plan that he said would be signed yesterday.

Trump was then asked about his tweet this morning, slamming Dr. Birx:

It was an appalling press conference. If you believe that the United States could function as a democracy, you would be in tears right now because there’s no chance Trump will accept any vote that he doesn’t win. And we’re no closer to slowing down COVID, never mind reversing it.
