Texas Mom Won’t Let Her Kids Wear Masks Because ‘They Look Like a Muslim’

Leave it to the United States under Donald Trump circa 2020 to make masks a political issue.

Trump politicized wearing a mask by accusing a reporter of being “PC” by wearing one at a press conference. From that point, the MAGA masses seem to have adopted the same attitude. Masks are “PC” and thus wearing one is a “liberal” thing.

Now it is getting taken to ridiculous levels:

A Texas woman’s Facebook Live video went viral after she was asked to wear a mask in Walmart, which announced weeks ago that all customers would be required to wear them in their stores, and went to a very weird place over it.

After repeating a lot of debunked lines about masks “inhibiting health” and claiming that the science on masks is “mixed” (it’s not), and touting an inaccurate recovery rate that still would leave 1.4 million Americans dead, she let her real feelings be known.

“I understand that it is a 99.6% recovery rate,” Latu says. “I don’t even gamble in Vegas, but I will take these odds. I will roll these dice, and I will exercise my freedoms to not put my kids in a mask because they’re one step closer to looking like a Muslim.

Actually, it makes one look smart in Darwin’s eyes. To the extent it looks “Muslim” (it doesn’t), then looking like a Muslim is smart in 2020. In reality, it’s the PC argument all over again. “Looking like a Muslim” is close enough to “it is PC” that it seems like the exact same argument.

It is just smart and it helps save lives. Period. If you care about others’ lives, you wear a mask. “PC” stands for “politically correct,” and with respect to this particular issue, it seems like a good thing to be.
