Sen. Ted Cruz Tells Gross Joke Mocking Americans and Is Immediately Slammed, ‘It’s Not a Goddamned Joke, Ted!’
There is a lot of discussion going on regarding what kind of economic stimulus the country might need to keep itself from going underwater. There is a great deal of economic uncertainty right now as store shelves dry up, jobs keep disappearing, and no one knows when the COVID crisis might abate. A stimulus bill is desperately needed and some have talked about something similar to what Canada passed, which was basically $2,000 per citizen per month until the end of the crisis, universal income until people get back on their feet.
To that end, Massachusetts senator Ed Markey tweeted this morning:
Give every person in our country $2000/month for the duration of the pandemic, $2000/month for 3 months after that, and $2000/month retroactive to March.

Being the sniveling little snit that he is, Ted Cruz, the Republican from Texas, who went out of his way to pass massive tax cuts for the wealthy in Trump’s first two years, had a very helpful response:
Why be so cheap? Give everyone $1 million a day, every day, forever. And three soy lattes a day. And a foot massage.
We have a magic money tree — we should use it! https://t.co/0ODgPBhc4O

How mature? Leave it to the GOP to act as though $2,000 a month per person is some incredible gift when it was the GOP that sought to return hundreds of thousands, to millions a month to millionaires and billionaires early in this administration and it is always the GOP asking for more money to go to the military.
But Markey wasn’t going to let snarky Ted troll him that easily:
It's not a goddamn joke Ted. Millions of families are facing hunger, the threat of eviction, and the loss of their health care during a pandemic that is worsening every day. Get real. https://t.co/z6ygY8lSxc

The GOP has no interest in getting “real.” It would seem that the party that has been telling us “it will go away,” that “hydroxychloroquine cures COVID,” and that we don’t need masks isn’t interested in getting real any time soon.
Nice job, Sen. Markey. We don’t know what they intend to pass but we hope that someone gets on it as soon as possible.

Peace, y’all
