We have reached that point in the day where we’re obligated to amuse ourselves by updating everyone on the status of one Jerry Falwell Junior, president of Liberty University, longtime GOP political advocate, and Trumpiest of the Trumpy MAGA hypocrites. Unlike most of Trump’s big-shot Republican friends, Jerry Falwell is not supposed to be a highly wealthy, self-indulgent, media ho, in his day job. He is supposed to be a born-again Christian pastor and university president and pull it off well enough to fool most people, most of the time.

It was on vacation from that “job,” that Jerry posted the picture on Instagram that we’ve helpfully inserted below. We say helpfully because as we’ve reported all week, Jerry figured out that it might be a bit “off-brand” to have a picture of him posing, drunker than a three-legged wiener dog, pants undone, belly out,  and in one arm holding some bouncy babe forty years younger than him, one who also has her pants undone and “belly out,” while Jerry’s other arm holds what Jerry calls a “prop,” but what other adults simply call a big glass of expensive Cab, and thus – given that this was a bad look for Jerry, he deleted the whole picture. But not before someone snatched it on the net.

As we reported yesterday, Jerry called-in to some Virginia radio show to say it was all a bad joke and he was very sorry. Jerry said that the girl is a sweetheart (we knew), and that she was his wife’s assistant, which we give him credit, that’s a highly creative and ballsy term for “my mistress.” (We’re guessing) The only interesting part of the excuse story is that the girl is pregnant – and THAT part is coming from Jerry!

Anyway, now everyone is on the same page. Jerry has forgotten that, unlike the rest of the powerful people around Trump, the people at Jerry’s “day job” won’t be impressed that Jerry actually got drunk enough to post a picture of him and his mistress (rumored) from their vacation on Instagram. Jerry isn’t running the NRA – yet, he’s running Liberty University, where – as we noted two days ago, behavior like this could get him fined up to near $2,000, an amount we presume to be almost half the hourly rate of the yacht on which Jerry’s partying.

Now Jerry is also hearing it from the GOP, which must really feel like a kick in the … belly, to Jerry.

The vice-chair of the House Republican Caucus called for Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. to step down.

“Jerry Falwell Jr’s ongoing behavior is appalling,” Rep. Mark Walker (R-NC) posted on Twitter.

“As a Music Faculty Advisory Board Member and former instructor [at Liberty University], I’m convinced Falwell should step down,” Walker said.

We wish Jerry luck. He seems like the creative type. We urge him to forcefully defend himself against this scurrilous attack on his character, so we have something to write about tomorrow.
