Calls Going Out for Trumpy Florida Governor DeSantis to Resign, is Trump Next?
Florida passed a grim milestone this weekend.
From Rawstory:
“Florida hit an alarming one-day high on Sunday with 15,300 new coronavirus cases, shattering both the state and national record for new cases reported since the start of the pandemic,” the Sun Sentinel reported Sunday. “With Sunday’s staggering surge in new cases, Florida eclipsed New York’s coronavirus peak of 12,274 cases on April 4.”
Given that DeSantis previously hid numbers as to the hospitalization rate, is still going forward demanding that schools open, and allowed Disneyworld to open its gates yesterday, people are now openly calling for DeSantis to step down. The calls will get louder and louder as the state descends.
#DeSantisResign definitely needs to trend

.@GovRonDeSantis is endangering Florida citizens by willfully obscuring data, not taking responsibility for his own failed coronavirus policies, and not taking appropriate steps to protect us. This willful failure is inexcusable. #ImpeachRonDeSantis

DeSantis does need to step down. The state is in a death spiral and it is now a danger to the nation given the commerce and business that goes in and out of the state. DeSantis was the one who had mocked the entire epidemic and its possible cascading effects, following up upon whatever Trump seems to want, and his state is now falling apart.
Hey @GovRonDeSantis…this was you on May 20 prematurely braggin’ like a pompous ass. You’re an incompetent fool, like your hero #Trump, who can’t control #Covid19. You screwed up so badly you should immediately resign… #coronavirus #DeSantis pic.twitter.com/azPDA8tHx0

“Screwed up so badly you should immediately resign.”
We are left to wonder whether DeSantis won’t find a reason to step down. He could sense that there is no “win” in this for him any longer, that he defeated himself in the video above. He may find he made too many wrong calls to ever “come back.” It is possible that he steps down. At some point, the decision goes out of one’s hands.
Which makes us consider Trump’s case. New polls out today show Trump down six points in Florida and leading by only one in Texas. The nation as a whole is just starting to wake up to the fact that any state will face the same plight as Florida and Texas level unless we shut the entire nation down again, this time for three to four full months. There is no shortcut out of this, and leave it to Trump, DeSantis, and Abbot to think that there was.
Trump will only continue to fall as the COVID situation worsens. Kids are not going back to school this fall. People see what happened in Texas and Florida and know it’s not a coincidence that the massive Republican-Trumpy states find themselves in deep sh*t. People aren’t opening schools as a means to more efficiently spread COVID everywhere. We also don’t know how COVID impacts kids long-term.
Trump may not see a viable way out of this. He also knows that his taxes will soon be in the hands of the NY AG. If he sees himself in a position where being president won’t be any fun anymore, he may bow out, take a pardon, before the Republican convention in August, and scurry away to start his media empire, taking potshots from the crowd. For some strange reason, Lindsey Graham tweeted that he’s going to call Robert Mueller to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. It is interesting.
Worth watching very closely, this nation is in trouble and things can happen with lightning speed, as Ron DeSantis is about to find out.

Peace, y’all
