Trump Campaign Enlists Karen Pence to Reach Women — Because Melania Either Cannot or Will Not Campaign

The Trump campaign has a huge issue with women voters, to put it with extreme understatement. So much of the MAGA-head movement is wrapped up in toxic testosterone that it (rightly) sends women running the other direction, left, and into a voting booth.

What to do?

Normally, it would be the First Lady’s job to soften the jackass. If one woman will vouch for the guy, generally that is seen as buying some credibility. The problem is, this First lady won’t do it, or she can’t do it, we don’t know which. We only know that she is not the one that the Trump campaign is relying upon. According to Time, Karen Pence will be the one vouching for Donald Trump.

I find it ironic, because in any other circumstance, Karen Pence would refuse to be in the same room as Donald Trump, certainly never agree to be alone with Donald Trump (few women would), and yet she is going to be Donald Trump’s champion on the campaign.

Time says that “with the First Lady largely avoiding the scene, the campaign sees Karen Pence as an asset in one of the areas it most needs help with, women.”

“I just feel like I want to do my part,” Mrs. Pence told The Associated Press in an interview shortly before she took a solo trip home to Indianapolis to add the Trump-Pence ticket to the ballot for the state’s Republican presidential primary in May. Mike Pence is a former Indiana governor.

“This is so exciting for me,” she told supporters at the Indiana Statehouse “Under the leadership of President Trump and Vice President Pence — I have to put his name in there, too — we are getting things done.”

Oh, yes you are getting things done, Mrs. Pence. You’re dividing the nation like it’s never been divided. You are caging children away from their parents, just as Jesus instructed on how to treat refugees. You have supported the same prosperity gospel that Jesus so famously preached, who can forget the grand finale of The Beatitudes, “Blessed are those whose mind’s on their money and their money’s on their mind.” You are also truly making the White House the “People’s House” again, where, in the same building that FDR and Churchill plotted out strategy in WWII, JFK and Bobby stood down the Kremlin, where Reagan greeted Gorbachev, Donald Trump stood to declare the impeachment “total bullshit.”

Yes, you have accomplished so much!

Mrs. Pence told AP she sees her role as “telling the story. Promises made, promises kept.”

If you don’t count marriage promises, that is.

Karen, you are going to have to explain one thing, though. You likely need to prepare an answer as to why – if Trump is so great that women should vote for him – why won’t Trump’s wife go out and say something to that effect?

Best work on that answer, because no matter how cute and earnest you are, women can see right through a fake, and on that, you’re in a real danger zone.

Say hi to Melania, next time anyone sees her.

Peace, y’all
