Trump Just Weighed in on the Jussie Smollett Case and Made Everything Worse
Well, we all knew this was coming.
Donald Trump tweeted about the alleged hate crime hoax committed by Jussie Smollett on Thursday.
Trump weighed in on Smollett just minutes after Chicago police eviscerated the actor for what they alleged was a false police report he made, claiming he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.
Trump tweeted, “Jussie Smollett – what about MAGA and the tens of millions of people you insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!? #MAGA”

The Empire actor was arrested on Thursday and was charged with filing a false police report about his alleged hate crime.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said during a press conference Smollett staged the attack because “he was dissatisfied with his salary” on the show.
“To put the national spotlight on Chicago for something that is both egregious and untrue is simply shameful,” Johnson continued. “I am also concerned about what this means moving forward for hate crimes. Now, of course, the Chicago Police Department will continue to investigate all reports of these types of events with the same amount of vigor that we did with this one. My concern is that hate crimes while now publicly be met with the level of skepticism that previously didn’t happen.”
Twitter had some thoughts:
It will be interesting to see how many presidential tweets @JussieSmollett merits versus the U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant and self-identified white nationalist arrested with a cache of weapons and ammunition stockpiled to target politicians and journalists in a terror attack. https://t.co/Fi32POkLCk

What about the tens of millions of POC, immigrants, women, Americans, foreigners, journalists, veterans, celebrities, civilians, politicians, and disabled people you insulted and put at risk of being assaulted or murdered with your racist and dangerous comments? https://t.co/qmYhsEPVmD

We learned yesterday that a Coast Guard officer / Trump supporter had stockpiled weapons intending to murder journalists, Democratic Senators and liberal Supreme Court Justices but this is what he tweets about. https://t.co/EtpAByanhS

What about the White Supremacists who killed a girl in Charlottesville who you never condemned?

A white supremacist seeking to kill prominent Democrats and googling if Supreme Court justices were protected by secret service was caught yesterday, yet you’re tweeting about a TV actor who concocted a fake crime? You’re demented. Resign.

Yesterday the President of the US implicitly encouraged violence against mainstream media organizations, several hours later we learned that a Coast Guard officer had stockpiled weapons for an attack on several mainstream media journalists, along with Democratic leaders.

You've inspired scores of all-too-real hate crimes with your cheap demagoguery, and can go fuck yourself. https://t.co/wSOn2ylV9Y

A man amassed hundreds of weapons and took steroids in an attempt to murder as many democrats and media personalities as possible and the president decided to attack a black man who hasn't been found guilty yet. https://t.co/2obzeTpZZj
