Ivanka Eviscerated for Claiming Americans Don’t Want a Guaranteed Minimum Wage, ‘Let Them Eat Cake!’

Ivanka Trump is receiving a lot of backlash on Tuesday for what people view as a lack of self-awareness in her most recent comments about the minimum wage.

The First Daughter and White House senior adviser gave an interview to Fox News’ Steve Hilton recently where she was asked about the Green New Deal championed in Congress by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

In her response to the part of the deal that promises a major jobs and infrastructure program, Trump spoke of how most Americans don’t want a guaranteed minimum because they’d rather have increased opportunity for upwards mobility.

“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something,” Trump said. “People want to work for what they get. So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job.”

Despite Trump’s comments about Americans being able to pull themselves up, Twitter is expressing significant disapproval over the insinuation that a fair living wage amounts to a handout.

More than that, a lot of people find it interesting for Trump to be making these types of comments when she’s spent most of her life working for her father while under the premise of inheriting plenty of money from her family’s business empire.
