Ivanka Eviscerated for Claiming Americans Don’t Want a Guaranteed Minimum Wage, ‘Let Them Eat Cake!’
Ivanka Trump is receiving a lot of backlash on Tuesday for what people view as a lack of self-awareness in her most recent comments about the minimum wage.
The First Daughter and White House senior adviser gave an interview to Fox News’ Steve Hilton recently where she was asked about the Green New Deal championed in Congress by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
In her response to the part of the deal that promises a major jobs and infrastructure program, Trump spoke of how most Americans don’t want a guaranteed minimum because they’d rather have increased opportunity for upwards mobility.
“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something,” Trump said. “People want to work for what they get. So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job.”
Despite Trump’s comments about Americans being able to pull themselves up, Twitter is expressing significant disapproval over the insinuation that a fair living wage amounts to a handout.

More than that, a lot of people find it interesting for Trump to be making these types of comments when she’s spent most of her life working for her father while under the premise of inheriting plenty of money from her family’s business empire.
Take a look:
It's always great when those born into wealth who has never had to struggle a day in her life like Ivanka Trump can tell working class Americans we don't want a minimum wage. #Affluenza #Trumpenza https://t.co/8yQz2p4wyZ

I'll listen to Ivanka on this issue when she's worked for minimum wage and tried to live on it. Or when she's been disabled and tried to live on disability. Or when she's worked two jobs and still not been able to afford rent. Until then the trust fund princess can sit down. https://t.co/Ls6UcGH2uU

Workers at an Indonesian factory making Ivanka Trump clothing told us they were paid $68 for 24 days of work, far below the local minimum wage: https://t.co/bX47XoI22H.
Chinese workers in Ivanka-producing factories were paid as little as $1 an hour: https://t.co/JYA5ipCWoA https://t.co/y6SBf86L2w

Spoiled billionaire’s daughter who never had to worry about a paycheck says Americans don’t want a guaranteed minimum wage because we want to work for what we get. Apparently those making minimum wage aren’t working hard in her mind?!? https://t.co/hkXdGePTdB

Ivanka Trump's "Let them eat cake" moment. But Im sure given her father stiffing workers out of $ the idea of any type of wage is shocking. https://t.co/8yQz2p4wyZ

Yes. She gets us! People actually do want to live on starvation wages and barely get by for years on end with little hope for improvement. This idea of being paid a fair and living wage for their work? Radical!

"People want to work for what they get" is a bold take coming from someone who hasn't had to work a single day in her entire life https://t.co/4FcCHzQO0G

These fucking people, seriously. No more self-awareness than a dog licking its own asshole in public. https://t.co/gEUaja357A

I'm sick of out-of-touch millionaires like Ivanka trump telling people who work paycheck to paycheck what they really want.
How would SHE know? She owns sweatshops where people work for $2 an hour.
Miss Complicit really needs to STFU. https://t.co/CvvchMRpgA
