Trump to Travel to Southern Border for Giant Photo Op to ‘Meet with Those on the Front Lines’

Donald Trump will travel to the U.S.-Mexico border this week amid a partial government shutdown triggered by his demand for wall funding, the White House announced on Monday.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump will “meet with those on the frontlines” of what the administration is calling “the national security and humanitarian crisis” at the southwest border.

Trump’s visit to the border would come on the 20th day of the ongoing partial government shutdown, which is in a stalemate over his demand that congressional Democrats vote to fund a wall — now a steel barrier — along the border.
