Trump To Hold Announcement at 1pm — Reports Government Will Open ‘Temporarily’

Donald Trump is scheduled to make an announcement at 1:00pm, and some are speculating that he will announce an agreement to temporarily open the government.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins tweeted, “President Trump is poised to make an announcement about the government shutdown, sources tell us. This was a last minute addition to his schedule, and it’s unclear what he will say, but they have been looking for a way out of the shutdown since the two proposals failed yesterday.”

The Drudge Report, who seems to have inside knowledge of the announcement, says Trump will announce a temporary end to the shutdown.

CBS’s Major Garrett also reported the shutdown would end, tweeting, “Senior administration officials expect Donald Trump to endorse short-term funding bill to reopen government in next hour. Final details being worked out in WH convos now. Unclear if 2 or 3 weeks. Border debate will continue. Stress on Govt systems was increasing.”

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced the statement from Trump will be made at 1:30pm EST:

Some on Twitter feel Trump’s announcement is suspect, coming hours after Trump confidant Roger Stone was arrested by the FBI:
