Trump Just Attacked California in Angry, Misspelled Tweet, Cuts Off All FEMA Money for Survivors of Wildfires

Donald Trump said in a Wednesday tweet that he is cutting off federal money to fight California wildfires, claiming the money is being wasted.

Trump tweeted, “Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forrest fires that, with proper Forrest Management, would never happen. Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!”

The way the tweet is written, it’s unclear whether Trump has already ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cut off money, or is again threatening to do so.

State officials have accused Trump of playing politics with the California wildfires, and said he does not understand the issues involved in fighting fires. Remember, Trump said forest fires could be solved by “raking” the forest floor.

Wildfires ravaged California in 2018, with the Camp Fire in Northern California killing at least 85 people and destroying thousands of buildings. The wildfire was the deadliest in the state’s history, and racked up an overall damage cost of $16.5 billion.

Trump’s declaration comes as he takes political heat over the ongoing partial government shutdown, which affects some of FEMA’s operations. Additionally, new California governor Gavin Newsom repeatedly slammed Trump in his inaugural address on Monday.

Newsom also blasted Trump for the address he gave last night on border security.

This tweet came hours after Newsom posted this message about the need to prepare for natural disasters.

In Trump’s original tweet he misspelled “forest.” Not once, but twice. The above tweet was corrected and sent 45 minutes after the misspelled one.

Twitter was disgusted:
