Donald Trump Jr. Has No Idea What ‘SNL’ Stands For — And Twitter Is Losing It

Unlike his father, Donald Trump Jr. prefers to take his Saturday Night Live parodies with a grain of salt. Still, there’s no telling if this Twitter gaffe was a joke or not.

On Thursday, Donald Trump’s son tried to drag a right-wing interpretation of Democrats’ 2020 platform by comparing it to a “funny version” of a “skit” from the long-running NBC show. Except he shortened the show’s title to “S&L,” which is very obviously incorrect.

The base-level interpretation here is that Trump thinks the show is called “Saturday and Live.” But perhaps he’s talking about an economic sketch show called “Savings and Loan,” or just thinks NBC should test a new name after 44 seasons and amid lagging ratings. SNL cast member Bobby Moynihan thought more simply, responding with “you a dummy.”

Trump hasn’t deleted the tweet in the hours since it was posted, so stay tuned for some jokey attempt at an explanation coming soon.
