Melania Trump Reportedly ‘Relieved’ Husband Donald Will Attend George H.W. Bush’s Funeral

According to a report by HollywoodLife, Melania Trump is “relieved” her husband, Donald Trump, is attending George H.W. Bush’s funeral after former First Lady Michelle Obama criticized her. Apparently, she thinks this will help her avoid a very awkward run-in with Michelle.

Donald Trump announced that he and Melania will be present at George H.W. Bush’s funeral and now, an insider tells HollywoodLife that “Melania is actually really relieved Donald will be there with her as it will help avoid any embarrassing run-ins with Michelle Obama.”

Last month Michelle Obama questioned Melania’s comment that she is the “most bullied” person in this world. The source at the White House claims Melania thinks that having her husband at the funeral will put some distance between her and Michelle, helping her avoid a confrontation.

“Melania always gravitated towards the Obamas previously at functions she attended solo. Melania’s feelings towards both her and Barack [Obama] have, however, cooled considerably,” the same source explained.

“I can’t,” Michelle said when asked if she could relate to Melania’s comments about being the most bullied person in the world. “I can’t look around at what’s going on and view myself as — I wrote about the fact that, how I learned not to sort of take myself so seriously in this role was when I would meet military families, and spend time on bases, and I would see the sacrifice that these families would make and the hardships that they would bare because they would have a loved one serving and dying and putting their life at risk. I admired them and it made me feel like, ‘let me not complain out loud about anything that is happening to me.’”

Donald Trump’s appearance at George H. W. Bush’s funeral comes after he famously didn’t attend Sen. John McCain’s funeral. He also didn’t attend the funerals for Nancy Reagan in March 2016 or Barbara Bush in April 2018.

Trump plans to send Air Force One to Texas on Monday to bring the body of former President Bush to Washington, D.C., where the body is scheduled to lie in state in the U.S. Capitol before returning to Texas for burial. The funeral is planned for Wednesday, December 5th, which Trump has declared a national day of mourning.

The ceremonies honoring Bush’s life begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with a departure ceremony at Ellington Field in Houston. The former president’s remains will then be flown to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, with an arrival ceremony scheduled there that afternoon.

Then, his remains will be taken to the U.S. Capitol to lie in state in the rotunda with a guard of honor in attendance. On Wednesday at 11 a.m. there will be a funeral at the Washington National Cathedral.
