Melania Still In Florida Making People Question Whether She’ll Join Husband Donald In Washington DC

UPDATE:

According to CNN’s Kate Bennett, Melania Trump is headed back to the White House now:

The Trump family won’t be celebrating Christmas together at Mar-a-Lago this year, even though First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron Trump already made the trip to Florida.

Hours after the partial government shutdown began at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Donald Trump tweeted that he was canceling his trip to Florida.

“I will not be going to Florida because of the Shutdown,” wrote Trump.

Although the Senate — which has yet to come to an agreement over funding for Trump’s proposed border wall — has been adjourned until Thursday, the president added that he would be “staying in the White House” over the Christmas holiday. The decision comes as hundreds of thousands of federal employees are sent home without pay and some federal services come to an abrupt halt.

Then it was announced by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that Melania would be flying back to Washington DC to spend the holiday with her husband.

However, it is Christmas Eve, and Melania is still firmly ensconced at Mar-a-Lago.

Kate Bennett, CNN’s reporter who covers first ladies tweeted, “Soooo at some point today @FLOTUS will likely head back to Washington, but it hasn’t been announced when. Last thing we heard about her schedule was (very oddly) from the West Wing, announcing Melania would return to WH from Palm Beach to spend Christmas with POTUS.”

But there have been no other announcement or schedules announced for when the first lady will depart Florida. Normally Melania’s staff releases that information, but as of now, pure silence.

Back on Thursday, Melania’s spokeswoman made it sound like government shutdown or not, Melania planned to be in Florida, “It has long been the family’s tradition to spend their Christmas holiday at Mar-a-Lago. Her plans to travel with her son to their Florida home for his winter break have not changed this year.”

The rest of Trump’s family is at Mar-a-Lago, including children Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., and well as their spouses/partners.
