As George H. W. Bush’s Houston Funeral Is About To Begin, Trump Tweets That He’s Being Harassed
Donald Trump has been receiving praise for his ceremonial decorum over the course of the past few days in the context of the passing of former President George H. W. Bush.
Judging by his most recent tweet, however, the days of being quiet and respectful are gone, and it’s back to the brash Trump we are used to…just as former President George H. W. Bush’s funeral is about to begin in his hometown of Houston, Texas.
Citing a recent poll published by Rasmussen Reports that claims Trump’s approval is currently at 50%, Trump suggested that it would be half as much higher if it were not for the investigation into Russian election interference led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Trump Tweeted:
Without the phony Russia Witch Hunt, and with all that we have accomplished in the last almost two years (Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judge’s, Military, Vets, etc.) my approval rating would be at 75% rather than the 50% just reported by Rasmussen. It’s called Presidential Harassment!

“Presidential Harassment” has become a common phrase in pro-Trump and conservative media outlets lately, which skeptics may see as a very odd euphemism for “checks and balances” or even appropriate investigation into corruption and malfeasance.

Trump’s message is the latest example of him venting frustration over the increasing pace of developments in the Russia investigation.
Mueller released a memo this week detailing former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s extensive cooperation with investigators and is expected to file similar documents on Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen and former campaign manager Paul Manafort, both of whom have pleaded guilty to criminal charges.
Some legal observers have speculated the developments signal the investigation is moving closer to Trump’s inner circle.
Twitter had a field day:
Was it "Presidential Harassment" when you spent all that time suggesting Obama wasn't a US citizen and, thus, not a legitimate US president? https://t.co/C5i1qTqGKH

i don't doubt Trump's approval rating would indeed by higher if he hadn't colluded with a foreign adversary to win office! https://t.co/FTpCNMavJM

Rasmussen said Republicans would win the House popular vote last month. It is also the only pollster in recent memory to show Trump with 50 percent approval https://t.co/VjC1LASG7o

1) All those "accomplishments" were actually done by the GOP-led Congress. Any Republican president would have done them.
2) Russia actively helped Trump become president.
3) Trump welcomed that help, in the form of Democratic emails stolen by Russia, released by WikiLeaks. https://t.co/6TJCcSABBu

Oh, honey . . . I can play that game, too. Without your daddy's millions, none of us would even know who you are. https://t.co/GncAiLTK0v
