Winston Churchill’s Grandson Slams Trump For Missing Cemetery Visit Due To Light Rain
Nicholas Soames, a British politician and the grandson of Winston Churchill, slammed Donald Trump on Saturday for cancelling a cemetery visit in France due to a little rain.
“They died with their face to the foe and that pathetic inadequate @realDonaldTrump couldn’t even defy the weather to pay his respects to The Fallen,” Soames tweeted.
Soames, who is a member of parliament for Mid Sussex, included a hashtag saying Trump is “not fit” to represent “this great country.”

Trump was slated on Saturday to visit Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near the village of Belleau, France. It’s the site of a 1918 battle in which the American and French repelled German forces. More than 1,800 Americans died there.
The battle looms large in the history of the U.S. Marines Corps. Trump was supposed to participate in a wreath-laying and a moment of silence at the site.
It has been raining in Paris all day and the weather prevented Trump from arriving via helicopter to the site, which is more than 50 miles east of the French capital.
White House chief of staff John Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general, his wife and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit instead.
Based on this photo, it doesn’t look like Kelly is suffering in the rain:
It’s important to note the other world leaders who weren’t afraid of a little rain.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was there:
Trump is celebrating #MarineCorpsBirthday by NOT going to Aisne-Marne Memorial and Cemetery to honor America’s World War I dead — all because the precious snowflake is worried the rain will mat-down his canary yellow hairdo.

Both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emanuel Macron were there:

Trump and wife Melania are currently holed up in the Ambassador’s residence, where they will remain until a fancy dinner party Saturday night at the Musee d’Orsay art museum.
