Watch Trump Get Nasty When Reporter Fact-Checks Him After He Claims His Separation Policy is Same as Obama’s

Donald Trump got into a nasty confrontation with a reporter on the White House lawn Monday.

In a brief meeting with the media prior to his departure for a pair of campaign rallies in Mississippi on Monday evening, Trump selected a reporter who asked him about a tweet in which he claimed that his administration’s child separation policy is the same as former President Barack Obama‘s.

“You said your policy at the border was the same as the Obama administration’s. It wasn’t,” said the reporter.

“Obama had a separation policy,” Trump replied. “We all had the same policy.”

“Sir, it was different — you decided to prosecute everyone at the border,” the reporter responded.

The reporter was CBS News correspondent Paula Reid, according to CNN media reporter Brian Stelter.

Past administrations did not have the same policy as the Trump administration, which has prosecuted all individuals who crossed the border illegally, resulting in thousands of families being separated at the border, more than in previous administrations.

The exchange between Trump and Reid came after the president on Sunday slammed “60 Minutes” over its report on his administration’s “zero tolerance” policy that resulted in families being separated at the border.
