Trump Says He ‘Misses New York’ And Will Return There After His Presidency

According to a new interview in The New York Post, Donald Trump, a born-and-raised New Yorker, misses his hometown and plans to return there after his presidency.

Trump said that he’s largely avoided the city during his time in the White House because of the disruption a presidential visit can cause, citing his annoyance when former President Barack Obama would come to town.

“They close down the city. I feel guilty because I remember when Obama would come in I’d say what the hell is he coming. He’d come in. The traffic. With me it’s even worse. They close down an even bigger section. So that’s the reason I do that.”

“I love New York, I miss New York,” Trump said, though New York seems not to love him — the city voted overwhelmingly against Trump in 2016, and protests there against the president and his policies are now part of the norm.

Trump, a homebody who would often return to Manhattan between campaign stops to sleep in his own bed in Trump Tower, has only returned to the city a handful of times, mostly for United Nations general assemblies, opting instead to spend more time at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

“A lot of times I stay in New Jersey at the club because it’s 2,000 acres. And they have plenty of room. I stay there not because of any reason other then I feel so guilty when I go into New York,” he said.
